Ben teed it up in his first competition of the year on the TP tour spring 2013 series. Occupying 365 acres of Surrey Heathland is Hankley Common golf club, designed by Harry Colt and James Braid, the golf course is ranked 34th in England with spectacular heather lined fairways framed by pine trees. Ben had the pleasure of playing with two European tour players, Daniel Gaunt (Aus) who has his European tour card for the coming year including reaching 160th in the world rankings back in 2011. Also Zane Scotland who also has his European tour card and finished T55 in 2010 at St.Andrews in The Open Championship. Ben shot 75 (+4) in which he had 2 double bogeys and 2 penalty shots. He said he feels confident on his progression through the winter and went on to say. "I felt good on the golf course, more importantly it felt great to compete again after the break over the winter, I played with some class players and gained a lot of valuable experience playing with these guys." "I feel that I lacked a little 'match tightness', with the two double bogeys, I hope we can get those clumsy mistakes out of my system by the start of the summer tour."
